You are here: Welcome :: Conventions :: Salute :: 2003

So this year saw my second visit to Salute in London. As for so many years it was held in Kensington Olympia and stretched 3 floors. As always it was a great chance to see new stuff, meet people and of course buy more then you already have. But I guess that this is not too interesting to many so lets just go to the presentation games.

Most of the games at Salute 2003 were World War II. One might think that with all this overkill it would soon get you fed up. But no! My favourite game actually was WW II and showed part of the battle on the outskirts of Berlin. It was a presentation by BattleGroup South Club in classic 20mm (1:72nd) scale. It was played on a massive table that was build in just 6 month. (Looks like I am not the only one working on tight deadlines). Unfortunately I forgot to ask, but my estimate on size is that it was ~ 1,5m x 4m.

Here are some more pictures for you to enjoy:

This shows a board depicting combat on the Eastern Front in WW II. It was very impressive terrain, most notably for the ruined city by the river and the great diorama of the destroyed bridge.

Here is a nice sample of a Napoleonics game.

A picture of a Middle Ages game.

And to end things some Romans against German tribes.
