The American Civil War (ACW) was a period in the existence of the then still young United States of America that lasted from 1861 to 1865. The war was started by political and social differences that had been boiling in the USA for decades and finally erupted with the election of Abraham Lincoln as president. This let to many of the federal states to splitting from the Union to form the Confederate States of America (CSA). This would lead to the bloodiest war so far to be fought on north American soil and would at times pit members of the same family against one another.

The basic tactical unit in those days was the Regiment. True to this the Johnny Reb III rules were chosen, since they are regimental based and about the best that can be found on the market. These rules use a scale of 1 mini = 30 men.

The minis used are 25mm minis from various manufactures to give a more diverse look to the units.

So far we presented a game that re-enacted part of the first day at Gettysburg at Action 2003.
